Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
If Haller plays he’s coming into a confident side with some good players around who work hard! He could well benefit from that!

Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
Haller’s strength if you like, is clearly in the box , and that is where he will hurt teams. In fact the goal Antonio scored against City is very much in Haller’s locker too. We have some decent crossers of the ball, if we get it into him, he will score goals. No rocket science here.

Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
A run of games might do Haller the world of good but we have find a way of complimenting his game rather than changing it. Hope Haller does well and I won't be calling for his head after the next game regardless of performance.
Give him time to settle in and for players to understand how to play together and the runs they will make.
Same with Yarmolenko if he plays. Very difficult to come into a side and just play a few minutes and impress as a team member.

Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
Well it’s not true we have no back up, we have Haller. Time for him to step up, and time for Moyes to try and get the best out of him, and get us playing to his strengths.

This wasn’t exactly unexpected. He was always going to get injured at some point. Good news is he should only miss 2 games due to international break

I agree about not the game to give the final verdict. I believe he has a huge role to play in coming games where teams will sit and we will have to break them down in their half.

I guess I wonder what happens if he starts, we are getting destroyed (which can happen against this team) and he gets pulled early. Is that the beginning of a deeper forever sulk.

Also if their defence and defensive midfield has time they will pick passes to some of the best attackers in the world. He has not shown the willingness (I did not see it against Man City when he was fresh) or the pace to do the harrying.

Got to be Haller in hasn't it? Big chance for him and I hope he takes it.

fraser - In my humble if it's not Haller then I think it will be Yarm. Would leave serious ? over Haller's future if that was the case.

Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
Haller will probably start and to be fair he should do as hes scored enough goals this season in the cup games to justify it.

Other option would be brentford ben up there running round

Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
360 - Fair enough, let's hope he's good or whoever starts is and we give it a proper go.

A free hit eh, nice to have 8 points in the bank.

Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
It's a blow but i dont think you would have to play too differently with Haller starting.

If you have someone as quick as bowen on the opposite wing they should be able to offer the right amount of support.

Where as fornals, antonio, bowen works as a front 3, Haller, bowen and fornals would not.

fraser 12:42 Fri Oct 30
Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
IOC - Not sure about that, when he played before he ended up isolated.

We're more compact now and he has willing runners who will bust a gut to get close to him.

As good as Antonio is at putting himself about, we also wouldn't have carried a threat if he had played isolated with big holes in our formation.

We're a totally different team to last time he started.

Give it a go if it doesn't work we need to fuck him off, but I don't think this is the game to judge.

Ok, I get you. I’m noticing I’m being negative about Haller quite a lot. I’m going to pause and see how he performs. I don’t mind losing I just want to see some life in the guy.

I don’t think it’s just me. The manager sees him in training and didn’t put him on for Antonio at first. So that suggests he will change the formation / personnel somewhat to accommodate him. (Something I don’t generally agree with ).

But I will give him a chance and stop being negative about him . Let’s see how it goes.

Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
We can always give Haller a chance, he is probably going up against a kid and Joe Gomez on the biggest stage. But to give him a real chance we need to play a different way.

fraser 12:34 Fri Oct 30
Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
360 - Because its one game and their the best in the country they press and starve the best teams of the ball.

If we get completely outplayed it can only be cause Antonio isn't playing and Haller/someone else is.

We were 3 down to spurs with Antonio on the pitch and 3-0 up with him off it, it isn't as simple as that.

Why not judge him against Liverpool? The whole team has played well against Spurs, wolves, Leicester, Man City and arsenal. All big teams and in Liverpool’s tax bracket.

It’s easy to score against teams two leagues below you. We dont pay him over a hundred grand to knock goals in against crap teams.

We spent big to get a big game player. If your not that then why are you here?

I think its fair to call Antonio a striker now given his goals and general performances, but I get your point

fraser 12:28 Fri Oct 30
Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
Manuel - I agree, definitely not a given he will start.

I just hope he doesn't play Bowen there as he's been vital where he is.

Re: Antonio out 4 weeks
Nick QQQ I think you’ll find that Haller Is the only striker we have and we have been playing all season with a winger up front
